The Star Cup is the third nitro cup in Mario Kart Wii, and can be unlocked by winning a trophy (bronze, silver, or gold) in Mushroom Cup and Flower Cup. Racers can only win a trophy, at the end of all four races, if they rank as one of the top three. Star Cup is a representation of four to five courses in the Mario Kart series and its symbol is a Star. In Mario Kart: Double Dash!! this cup is completed to unlock the Special Cup. This cup usually consists of courses that are better suited for Mario Kart veterans. There are more gimmicks, boost pads and jumps here. The tracks are usually as long as the ones from Flower Cup.

- Koopa Cape and Maple Treeway would return as retro tracks in Mario Kart 7, then Grumble Volcano returned as a retro track in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and then the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has added Maple Treeway, Koopa Cape and Daisy Circuit on Waves 3, 5 and 6 respectively.
