Piranha Plant

A Piranha Plant inside of a Pipe.

A Piranha Plant is a vicious plant that attacks Mario/Luigi in throughout their quests in the Super Mario games. With razor sharp teeth along with speedy chomps, Piranha Plants are one of the more challenging enemies to overcome- not to mention they can perform various attacks, such as popping out of Pipes, shooting Fireballs (though not very well aimed...), or just constantly trying to bite the player.

Two remakes of past tracks in the Mario Kart (series) appear in Mario Kart Wii, N64 Mario Raceway from Mario Kart 64 and GCN Mario Circuit replicated from Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. Both of these tracks' Piranha Plants return as well.

Mario Kart Wii[]

N64 Mario Raceway[]

This last track of the Shell Cup features numerous Piranha Plants along the edge of the track pretty much the whole way throughout. Although they do not jump out at players in the grassy/sandy areas, drivers not paying attention or trying to cut a corner can run into one of these guys and regret it immediately.

GCN Mario Circuit[]

After exiting the tunnel in GCN Mario Circuit, there's 3 Piranha Plants stationed in pipes up ahead on the sandy section, two on the left and one on the right. Also, right after the last hill where players can perform a Trick, one Piranha Plant on either side of the track awaits. A misplaced jump can send racers straight into one... even though they may not collide with them though, these Piranha Plants on GCN Mario Circuit are especially deadly, as they lash out at passing vehicles, so staying as far away from them as possible is advised. Basically, you have to drive in the exact middle or just hope the Piranha Plants have bad timing... they usually don't though.

*The large Piranha Prowler Kart is based off of a Piranha Plant in appearance.

  • Piranha Plants get their own track based off of them in Mario Kart 7, Piranha Plant Slide, featuring many Piranha Plants, of course.
